Dream Big!

By: Robin Rhoades

What have you been dreaming? No, I do not mean when you are sleeping, but what you been thinking of lately? Do you know your thoughts determine your destiny? Proverbs 23:7 says, "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..." Where you are in life today is a direct result of what you have been thinking about. Your future is determined by your thoughts. Your way of thinking becomes the plan for your life. Whatever your thought life is, that is what your life is right now. Your thoughts control your destiny because your thoughts will get you wherever you want to be. Isaiah 55:8,9 says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

God's "high" thoughts will produce God's "high" ways. God will never involve Himself in a dream you can achieve on your own. Ephesians 3:20 says, "Now unto Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us." Your thought life is the blueprint for what the spiritual architect will bring to pass in your life.

Have you ever been around someone who is always negative about everything? Their glass is always half empty, they never think they are going to succeed in life, they always say everyone else always gets the breaks. They are always criticizing and complaining and they live their entire life just "coasting" through instead of standing up and with determination saying, "I'm going to make a difference in the world! I will succeed!" Remember, your faith determines the level of promotions and victories in life. How do we increase our faith? By hearing and hearing and hearing the Word of God. Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Read the Word....listen to it preached...think about it...qoute it..that's how your faith is increased.

When Moses died and Joshua had to take over the monumental responsibility of taking care of a million complaining people, it was an overwhelming task. In his own strength, Joshua could not succeed. But God gave Joshua the key to success and all these many years later, it is our key of success as well. God said, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth: but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." (Joshua 1:8)

What was God saying? He was saying to not let His Word depart from our mouths, but to meditate (think) on His Word. All of the promises in the Bible are ours for the taking! Joshua could have camped out and lived out the rest of his life in the wilderness after Moses died. He could of said, "We have come this far and I'm not going any further." But no, he had a vision and he pursued that vision. He went beyond his predecessor because the vision of God burned within him and he purposed in his heart to speak and believe what God told him. He determined to do more and he went for it and ultimately led the children of Israel to the promised land and conquered the giants that tried to stop him from successfully fulfilling God's will for his life.

Instead of saying you are never going to be able to accomplish the task at hand, begin to say, Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." When you feel like giving up, do not sit around and think about how to write your letter of resignation, instead begin to think (and quote the scripture to yourself) Galations 6:9, "And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not"  for "He giveth power to the faint: and to them that have no might he increaseth strength." Isaiah 40:29.

The problem with alot of Christians today is they do not know what God thinks about them. They do not take the time to read the Bible on a daily basis to hear what God has to say about their situation. Remember, the devil does everything he can to keep your Bible closed. There are 30,000 promises in the Word of God and believe me, that is more than enough to cover any situation we may face! The key is to begin to speak what God's Word says about the situation. Remember, our time in the "secret place" determines our strength in the "public place."

When you feel afraid of something, instead of continually thinking about the thing that makes you fearful, search the scriputures to see what God says about fear and then stand on those promises by thinking them and saying them to yourself every time you start to be afraid. One of my favorites is II Timothy 1:7, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." Another favorite of mine is Isaiah 41:10 which  says, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am Thy God: I wll strengthen thee..I will help thee..I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness."

Your thoughts, desires and dreams are all going to come from your way of thinking.

Success and failure is determined by your belief system because your attitude determines your altitude.

Remember, your thoughts make up your world.

Thomas Edison was one of the greatest inventors in history. He obtained 1,093 patents which is the most the United States has ever issued to one person. But his key to success was never quiting! He looked for different solutions to solve various problems. In other words, when he faced failure or an experiement did not work out like he planned, he did not throw his hands up and quit. No, he rolled up his sleeves and tried again...and again...and again until he found a way to accomplish what he had set out to do.

Babe Ruth was the very first great home run hitter in Baseball history. He had a lifetime batting average of .342. But he didn't become that way overnight...he spent years and years of practicing and practicing and seeing himself winning until his dream finally became a reality and he accomplished what no one had ever done in that time.

In 1932 Amelia Earhart became the first woman to ever fly across the Atlantic ocean alone. After that great accomplishment, she went on to set other speed and distance records and was influential in the development of Commercial Aviation. But she did not just jump in a plane and start flying toward the ocean. No, she had thought about it until she knew she could do it! Then she took the necessary steps to fulfill that dream and she did! When preparation meets opportunity it is going to produce success.

What do you see yourself doing? Start dreaming it!! Start seeing it! Start speaking it! You CAN do all things through Christ who gives you the strength (Philippians 4:13) Begin to train your mind to think on what God says and sees about the situation. You are not a failure, going nowhere to do nothing! You are a Somebody, going Somewhere to Succeed for God! God sees us as Blood Bought, Righteous, Redeemed, Overcomers! And if God thinks that of me, then so I am! Dream big! Make your future so big, that yesterday disappears! Believe for miracles! Expect God to do the impossible and you'll be amazed at how His Word will catapult you out of your mundane circumstances to living a life of Victory! "And this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith!! " (I John 5:4)
